Leaders Section

Welcome Leaders
Information for all leaders considering and coming to Charnwood 2006
This part of the website is devoted to you, the Leaders. We hope to fill these pages with all the essential, useful and interesting stuff that will make your camp successful and fun.
Charnwood 2006 is Leicestershire Scouts and Guides 6th International camp. It will be based in the grounds of Whatton House, Long Whatton, situated in the heart of middle England, near the cities of Leicester, Derby and Nottingham.
On this website we expect to provide details ranging from 'how to book' to 'day visiting', from 'how to get to Charnwood' to 'local contacts' and vitally, details of everything we plan for Charnwood 2006 to make it a rewarding and enjoyable experience for young people and adults alike. We're aiming to provide an online diary and a guide to help you through the stages of booking and preparations.

Subcamps and Ages
Each Charnwood has been an evolution of its predecessors, and the plans for 2006 are going to ensure that this will be the best one yet. Charnwood 2006 will place an even higher emphasis on providing challenging and diverse opportunities specific to different age ranges. The main sub camps will cater for Scouts and Guides (age 10 - 14) and their associated leaders. There will also be a sub camp for older age Scouts and Guides (14 - 17). In the UK this age group corresponds to the age of young people in the Explorer Scout section, and Guide Senior Section members (campers in this age group may come without their leaders if they wish).
The 10-14 sub-camps are for Scouts and Guides whose age at the start of camp places them between their 10th and 15th birthdays. The 14-17 camp is for Explorers and Guide Senior Section members (or their equivalent overseas) between their 14th and 18th birthdays. As both the Scout and Guides Associations in the UK distinguish sections at 14, and both have a one year overlap, 14 year olds can choose which age-camp they prefer, in order to keep friendship groups intact.

International
Charnwood 2006 will be a truly international camp and as such it will be the perfect opportunity to meet other Scouts and Guides from around the world. Indeed the international aspects of Charnwood 2006 are high on the agenda and will play an even more significant role for 2006.
