What is Charnwood 2006 | |
|

It is Leicestershire's 6th International Scout and Guide Camp
|
|
|
|
| | The Aim of the camp |
|
|
|
| Is to repeat the enormous successes of the previous camps help in
1980, 1985, 1991, 1996 and 2001 and to encourage International understanding
between young people from all over the world. |
|
|
|
|
| | Why do people attend? |
|
|
|
| By taking part in this intensive week of activities, friendship
and fun, a total 3000 Leicestershire, National and International Scouts
and Guides will learn: to work as a team to make decisions, to take
responsibility, to communicate and to show initiative. |
|
|
|
|
| | Where do they come from? |
|
|
|
| In the past we have hosted Scouts and Guides from Europe and Scandinavia,
the Far East, USA, Canada, Italy, the West Indies, Australia and New
Zealand and at the last two camps from Russia and Poland. |

Did You Know? | |

|
|
| This huge operation, which takes two years to plan, is organised and run by some 800 volunteers. | | There are over 9,700 Scout Groups nationwide. | | Girlguiding UK's adult members and helpers give 10 million voluntary hours a year, equivalent to 5,500 full time jobs. | | Girlguiding UK has 620,000 members in the UK, wherein the young people benefit week in, week out. |
