Lord and Lady Crawshaw, the kind people letting us camp in their front garden.
When asked what excites them most about Charnwood coming to Whatton, it becomes apparent that Lord and Lady Crawshaw aren’t
really sure what to expect. They remember having a Scout Jamboree there 40 years ago, but Charnwood 2006 is going to be a little
different to that!! They’re not worried, they say its only natural for young people to be noisy, but they’ve got
earplugs ready just in case!
In the past they have held operas, garden parties and fetes in their grounds. They say that it will be nice to hold a big event,
as they certainly have the room, and it is good to support the Scout and Guide movements.
The family had links to Guiding and Scouting in the past. Their four daughters, now in their late twenties and early thirties
were all Brownies, and Lord Crawshaw’s brother was County Commissioner of the Scouts for a number of years.
And all importantly; their favourite biscuits. They were a bit surprised by the question, but Lord Crawshaw chose chocolate
digestives, while Lady Crawshaw opted for Jaffa cakes.
